Trails, nursery, education, and much more…if you’ve never visited you should definitely put this on your must-do list. Check out their website for a small glimpse of what you’re missing out on.
Native Trees And Woodland Shrubs of PEI (PUB): A free downloadable PDF of a PEI government publication that’s been around I think close to forever. While the pictures and illustrations are only in black and white, it is nevertheless a must-have field guide for identifying everything on your PEI nature hikes.
The Island Nature Trust: Dedicated to the protection and management of Natural Areas on PEI. They acquire lands to be held in trust for future generations, manage these lands as an example of appropriate and sustained use, and help private owners voluntarily protect their lands.
Wheatley River Improvement Group: Dedicated to protection and management of The Wheatley River, Cymbria, Crooked Creek, Chapel Creek, Oyster Bed Bridge, Hornes Creek and Lukes Creek Watersheds.
The PEI Invasive Species Council: Focused on the creation of a framework for the management of invasive species that threaten Prince Edward Island’s environmental, economic and social health. Great resources on their website.
Island Trails: A not for profit non government organization which actively supports the promotion, development, and enhancement of Prince Edward Island’s extensive network of trails for healthy recreation and educational use. If you’re looking for a hiking, cycling, skiing or snowshoeing trail on PEI, this is the place to start.
